Brand Spotlight: FOUR Objects

Best For: Elevated, buy-less-buy-better essentials

FOUR Objects is a Brooklyn-based capsule brand built around a genuinely radical idea in fashion: slow down. Really slow down. Founded and led by co-founders Mae Fatto and Karuna Scheinfeld, the label debuts just one new piece every three months—four a year, for four years—with each design remaining available for as long as the materials needed to produce it are still obtainable, which means pieces introduced in previous years continue to be sold alongside newer releases.

The self-funded label designs luxurious separates with form and functionality at their core, creating pieces meant to slot easily into the wardrobe you already own and become part of how you dress over time. Familiar wardrobe staples are refined through thoughtful proportions, exceptional fabrics and the kinds of details that make you reach for a piece again and again, reflecting FOUR Objects’ understanding that sustainability begins with making clothes people genuinely want to keep.

Fatto and Scheinfeld prioritize natural and organic materials and limited-edition deadstock fabrics while avoiding microplastics and non-recyclable materials wherever possible. Their sourcing network includes makers in New York, Italy, Portugal, Peru and Japan, with several pieces woven or manufactured in New York State.

FOUR Objects also offers an unusual Collector subscription built around buying fewer, better things. Collectors receive a seasonally selected piece approximately every three months and have four months to decide whether to keep it, creating space for a more deliberate relationship with clothing and allowing each purchase to be considered within the context of an existing wardrobe.

Now in year four, FOUR is preparing to run the whole model again, this time for accessories.

Key Points We Love

  • The Collector™ Model: Rather than chase constant newness, FOUR invites customers to become Collectors™, a membership approach with first dibs, special pricing, and exclusive content that openly rejects the buy-more-forever logic of fast fashion.
  • Designed for Longevity: Each piece is developed to be worn often, cared for, repaired and kept for years rather than replaced with the next trend.
  • Real Circularity: Fabric scraps and unrepairable returns are recycled through FabScrap and GrowNYC, while wearable returns, prototypes, seconds, and repaired pieces get a second life through the brand’s 4WORN resale program.
  • Responsible Production: FOUR Objects seeks out production partners that share its environmental and labor values, with an emphasis on women-owned and majority-women businesses.
  • 4% Back to Makers: 4% of every sale is donated to the communities who produced the garment, supporting community health, childcare, education, and social services.

Categories and Size Range

  • Categories: Shirts, tops, knitwear, trousers, dresses and outerwear.
