Charles Jeffrey’s LOVERBOY: A/W 20

Charles Jeffrey’s LOVERBOY was born from the club kid scene and it definitely shows in his collection. While it lacked cohesion it could be argued that there was something for everyone –the looks ran the gamut from graphic logo sweaters to a multi-tiered ruffled skirt. Whatever strikes your fancy was locally made. Jeffrey’s stressed what he called “localism” and published a manifesto for “conscious practice,” disclosing the sustainable methods employed to make the collection, such as using GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified cotton and sourcing wools and tartans from local manufacturers to reduce his brand’s carbon footprint.

When I think of nightlife fashion, glitter and shiny polyester comes to mind so it’s important to see a designer changing their production without sacrificing the glam.
