Personal Style Advice: Just have fun with fashion! Put things together that don’t make sense and you might be surprised, you can create some super fun combos by mixing up textures and prints. And wear what makes you happy, as cliche as that sounds. If you feel confident in it and love it who’s to say you can’t wear it. We all care too much what people think and I feel like we should go back to what truly makes us happy when it comes to fashion and clothes.
I’m also a sucker for unusual or weird shaped bags as a cool accessory. I have a big collection including a chicken, bear and wine bottle, the list goes on. I think they add a bit of fun to any outfit and definitely are a conversation starter when you’re out and about.
Style Icon
Iris Apfel; she’s such an icon! Even at 100 she still gets dressed up in loads of prints, colours and accessories! She shows that no matter what your age you can wear whatever you want and have fun with your clothes. She’s also such an inspiration that more is more, which is something I love as a maximalist.
Why I picked this top to style
The piece I chose is a handmade crochet crop top. I saw this last year in a Brighton charity shop and the minute I saw it I knew I needed it in my life. Its such a versatile piece and it’s great to layer over clothes and add a bit of texture and interest to an outfit. I’m also in love with the colour!
Look One
Look One: Red Dress for Coffee
This look is made up of a dress I made last year in lockdown with the crochet crop top layered over the top. The print on the dress is a cat lady playing the banjo which always makes me smile. To keep going with the red theme of this look I paired it with red fishnets, red sunglasses and a cute red heart shaped handbag. To be practical I’m wearing chunky pink and white lace up converse.
I wore this look to go meet my friend for coffee in Brightons colourful Lanes.
Look Two
Look Two: Green Skirt – Perfect for Any and Every Summer Day
This look is perfect for a hot summers day! I’m wearing the crochet crop top as a top and paired it with a green satin skirt with a side slit. This skirt is one of my current faves; I love the colour and texture and think the shape is super flattering. On my feet I decided to wear my chunky white and black boots.
The day I wore this look I later changed into sandals to go meet my friends at the beach.
Look Three
Look Three: Pink Trousers for a Casual Night Out
This look consists of a fun pair of pink and black checked trousers with a white blouse underneath the crochet top. To match the blouse I paired it with a pair of white cowboy boots and to match the red top I wore a flower headband I made myself. The bag I chose is a super cute pink fluffy bear bag from Irregular Choice.
This look is great for casual drinks at the pub on a colder evening.
