We’ve already spoken to the Fall/Winter 2023 Ready-to-Wear trends, so it’s time to spotlight the accessories.
Now, you might wonder how seasonal trends work within a sustainable wardrobe. Most of the time they don’t. Trend cycles have become so quick that items are barely worn more than once before they’ve become irrelevant. Personally, when I want my outfit to feel more “trendy,” I don’t opt to purchase a trending item. I participate in a trend through silhouettes, fabrics, or styles. I.e. not buying the specific hot pink Zara shoes everyone on TikTok has but instead thrifting a bright-colored kitten heel because statement shoes have made a comeback.
Before we cancel the enjoyment of highlighting runway trends, I’m here to show you how you can shop trends more intentionally. Below are four accessory trends I’ve seen on the runways. I’ve then shopped for similar options from conscious brands. You can enjoy fashion, and wear accessories that are having a moment. Just ensure you’re choosing classic, well-made pieces that can be reinterpreted all year round. When deciding which brands to include, I’ve looked at their materials, and the impact production has on people and the planet.
Shop consciously!
