Beauty launches happen every single day. Lip glosses, complexion products, eyeshadow palettes—there’s always something new competing for attention. But as someone who loves beauty, I find myself wondering more and more: are these products built for the future, or are they just contributing to the mountain of waste left behind by the beauty industry?
The numbers are sobering. Beauty is one of the biggest contributors to consumer waste. Vogue reports that between 20% and 40% of beauty products, depending on category, end up as waste. It’s not enough for consumers to be more mindful—we need brands to step up too.
That’s why I was so excited when Axiology Beauty reached out. Their entire line is 100% plastic-free, vegan, and cruelty-free—words you hear often, but rarely see executed this well. They sent me a few of their products to try, including their Skin Loving Fungdation—the first foundation infused with reishi and snow mushrooms—and their popular Lip-to-Lid Balmies.
This was my first time trying truly plastic-free makeup, and I was eager to see how it performed. Here’s my honest experience.
A Bit About Me
I’ve been obsessed with beauty since the age of ten, when I received my first eyeshadow palette. These days, I follow new product launches, but I’ve been feeling fatigued by the constant flood of “new” without much thought for impact. Over the past year, I’ve made a conscious effort to switch over to more sustainable and clean beauty options as I use up my current products.
So when Axiology’s email landed in my inbox, it felt like perfect timing.
About the Products
Axiology is best known for its Lip-to-Lid Balmies—small multi-use sticks made with just nine ingredients. They come in individual shades ($18), duos, trios, or a full 14-shade “super fan pack” ($118). The formula offers long-lasting wear for lips, lids, and cheeks—all without a single trace of plastic in the packaging.
But the product I was especially excited to try was their new Skin Loving Fungdation—a creamy solid foundation stick formulated with skin-loving ingredients.

Here’s why it stands out:
- Reishi Mushrooms → rich in beta-glucans, which can enhance the skin’s moisture retention by 20-25%, providing deep hydration.
- Snow Mushrooms → can hold up to 500 times their weight in water, helping to deeply hydrate and plump the skin.
The result? A lightweight, breathable formula that offers light-to-medium coverage with a natural, radiant glow. And yes—eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging.
Application + First Impressions
I prepped my skin with my usual skincare and primer, then applied Skin Loving Fungdation in shade 1 (15 shades are available). I tested two methods: blending it in with my fingers on one side and using a brush on the other.
Using fingers gave slightly more coverage, but both methods created a beautiful, glowy finish—without feeling heavy.
I was particularly impressed by how hydrating it felt. Solid foundations can sometimes emphasize dryness (especially during winter), but this one didn’t. I credit the mushroom extracts for that added moisture barrier.

Next, I tried the Lip-to-Lid Balmies in Nude Plum (a mauvey plum) and Rose (a warm rosy nude). I used both shades on my cheeks, and Rose on my lips. Application was easy and intuitive, leaving a healthy flush on my skin. I also layered the Multi-Stick Color Cream in the shade True on my cheeks for added depth.
A light dusting of powder, a spritz of setting spray—and I was ready for the day.
The Wear Test

The day I tested the products, I had a full schedule: work, then a family dinner that would last well into the evening. In other words—the perfect wear test.
Eight hours later, I was impressed.
- Skin Loving Fungdation kept its glow and coverage intact, with no signs of flakiness or dry patches (a big win for my winter-prone skin).
- The Balmies maintained a nice flush on my cheeks throughout the day. My lips needed a quick touch-up after eating, which I expected.
Final Thoughts
Since that first test, I’ve reached for these products several more times. Each time, I’m impressed by how wearable and long-lasting they are—while feeling good about the fact that I’m supporting a brand that’s pushing beauty in a better direction.
If you’re looking to explore clean, sustainable beauty, Axiology is a fantastic place to start. The Skin Loving Fungdation delivers hydration, radiance, and eco-conscious innovation. And the Lip-to-Lid Balmies are the kind of versatile staples every minimalist beauty lover will appreciate.
I, for one, will be keeping both in my rotation.
