Spotlight on Silk Laundry

My favorite thing in nature is Symbiosis. It’s about the art of living together, mutual partnerships, coexisting and collaborating.

Symbiosis is critical to maintain the balance of nature and survival of species.

–Katie Kolodinski

We’ve been thinking alot about our interconnection to nature and the climate. It’s easy to feel like helpless bystanders to climate change. But we’re all intrinsically a part of it. Founder of Silk Laundry Katie Kolodinski understands our connection to nature and it’s reflected in her beautiful designs and intentional use of materials.

Katie’s deep appreciation for silk’s durability and its sustainable lifecycle inspired her to create a brand that not only offers timeless elegance but also prioritizes environmental responsibility.

Each garment is meticulously crafted with artisanal skill, innovative design, and a thoughtful approach to fabric selection, ensuring minimal impact on our planet.

To complement Silk Laundry’s luxurious pieces, we’ve paired them with  jewelry from NYC-based  Elizabeth Moore. Elizabeth’s creations, adorned with diamonds, precious stones, and recycled gold, add a touch of timeless beauty.

Our models are dancers Robin Bell and Alyssa Villareal.

At Silk Laundry, we prioritize natural fabrics because they align with my values. Natural fibers like silk, organic cotton, and hemp and yak offer unparalleled quality, breathability, and longevity. By using these materials, we reduce our environmental footprint and support sustainable farming practices. Plus, natural fabrics age beautifully, like a fine wine or a song by Patti Smith. I encourage mindful consumption and reducing the need for frequent replacements.

I believe every change we make, no matter how small,
has an impact, and that is why I decided to use recycled gold. –Elizabeth Moore

I am hopeful for the future because of the resilience and regenerative power that we have witnessed with nature. Despite challenges and drastic changes, nature has continually demonstrated its ability to adapt and flourish.

My favorite thing in nature is the spontaneity of the different colors that make up diverse ecosystems. Although not deliberately chosen, the effortless pairing of these colors is what distinguishes each unique landscape. They are always seemingly in harmony and it’s beautiful.
