The Water Bottle We recommend S'well Water Bottles. Why? S'well bottles started in NYC in 2010 to seduce people away from plastic water bottles and it has worked brilliantly. They are BPA-free, keep your beverages the proper temperature and even partner with UNICEF. Also, they have so many styles I defy you to say you can't find one for you.
And BONUS: They also now make other beverage containers like tumblers and travel mugs.
The Straw I'll be honest, I just don't get the big deal about straws. No, not that they are a major problem but I had no idea how many people use straws. Seriously! The only time I'm somewhere that even offers me a straw is when I am visiting relatives and we go out to a chain restaurant. (which perhaps just reveals how little I go out to eat?)
That being said, I get that people like their straws. Whether it's at TGIFridays or with a post workout smoothie. And having scoured the internet and trusting NY Magazine implicitly we are recommending the Koffie Straw. This was invented by a dude who wanted to drink his COFFEE with a straw. To me that is so wrong …I am speechless. (well not quite). But "you do you" is what I have to say to him and moreover THANK YOU for creating a 100% silicone straw that is biodegradable and is now available for everyone…and if you insist, is safe for your coffee.
The Shopping Bag So you're at your local CVS and you have 2 boxes of hair color because it's on sale, flash cards for your french verbs and some Pop Chips because no one's perfect…you forgot your bag. Again. But insist on the balancing act because no way are you taking one of those plastic bags. …ummm, is that an E for Effort moment? Let's not have that again. Always be prepared with BagPodz.
BagPodz are a unique design in that there are several bags in one "pod" that you can just pull out as needed. The pod is super compact and can be clipped to your shopping cart etc so you're never without one. According to their website: "The bags come out one at a time - neatly and quickly - like peas from a pod." And not only do they help you to be more sustainable they are sustainably produced. Every material used to make their product is Bluesign® certified. This eliminates harmful substances right from the beginning of the manufacturing process and sets and controls standards for an environmentally friendly and safe production. They're water repellant, made of rip-stop nylon and can hold up to 50 pounds and come in packs of 5 or 10. Cool, right?
