Read Pageboy: A Memoir by Elliot Page

When many people who don’t know any trans people (that they’re aware of) think “trans” they think of drag queens or Caitlyn Jenner or essentially someone who presents “female”. I think this has something to do with our essential misogyny in our culture – that we collectively can’t believe that men would give up their privilege to choose to be “women”. And Female to Male trans people are dismissed as not “real men”.

Which is partly why I think the visibility of Elliot Page is important. Because he was a public figure who thus transitioned for all the world to see, his very existence is bringing people into the conversation that would ordinarily avoid it. And this memoir promises to broaden the conversation –and hopefully tolerance– even further.

From the publisher:
NAMED A MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK by Salon, The Week, Elle, Bustle, and more. Full of intimate stories, from chasing down secret love affairs to battling body image and struggling with familial strife, Pageboy is a love letter to the power of being seen. With this evocative and lyrical debut, Oscar-nominated star Elliot Page captures the universal human experience of searching for ourselves and our place in this complicated world.

The Oscar-nominated star who captivated the world with his performance in Juno finally shares his story in a groundbreaking and inspiring memoir about love, family, fame — and stepping into who we truly are with strength, joy and connection.
