Germanier is the label of Central Saint Martins graduate Kevin Germanier, launched in 2018. Kevin was a 2019 LVMH grand prize finalist and the 2015 Redress Award recipient. According to Germanier’s official site “the focus is on luxury upcycled fabrics” and “draws inspiration from a futuristic vision of utopia”.

For the A/W 2021 collection Germanier focused on craft within futuristic glamour and luxury. Kevin Germanier has stated he “wanted to highlight the craftsmanship of everyone involved in the brand” from “techniques involved in creating pearl panels and marabout cast-offs sourced at London feather specialists Jaffe, to the knitwear made by my grandmother and her knitting circle”.

This season continues the brand’s sense of glamour and camp in it’s reimagining of what sustainability can look like. The shimmer of the pearl panels and crystal embellishing is present in all of the garments. The shine carries into the accessories like blocky chain link straps on purses and oversized jewelry. A bedazzled pink jacket and skirt set with feather trimming is paired with beaded earrings fully shows the opulence of Germanier’s vision.
