Style Advice

I treat every day as a different quest & have been working on my costume closet since age 8. So before I leave the house everyday I try to adorn with ribbons, band and movie pins, small felted birds, anything that lets my love for delights shine through.

Getting fantastical and ridiculous with your style is a sure fire way to draw eccentrics in your area right to you!

Why I picked this to style

The piece I chose to style is a short sleeved 1960s Girl Scout uniform. I’ve collected scout memorabilia for about three years now, and styling my best finds makes every day feel like a costume occasion. This dress is from Casablanca Vintage in Northside, Cincinnati (heaven on earth) and is pretty inconspicuous save a Girl Scout patch on the shoulder.

Look One

Romping in the NWA Botanical Gardens with beautiful women necessitated an outfit that could twirl. A vintage ditzy floral skirt from Cheap Thrills layered atop the scout dress created a really sweet silhouette:) Paired with brogue mary janes, mismatch lace socks, ribbons and a rainbow necklace.

Look Two

The second look was for a day of record shopping and yard sale pilgrimages. I pinned a white blouse at the small of my back to mimic a 60s colorblock dress. The beret is another scout uniform piece, with a lace collar pinned to my hair to keep it sweet. The pin reads “WIRED? YEAH, I’M WIRED” which reminds me of my favorite movie THE SOCIAL NETWORK (2010). I tried to bring in the yellow again with striped athletic socks + mary janes.

Look Three

Last look was for dinner at my favorite Thai place on the square. Accessorized with a heavy green belt, vintage vinyl purse, and felted clips. Clog heels and crocheted socks made me feel appropriately princessed 🙂
