For A/W 2020 Priya Ahluwalia found inspiration in the curves and colors of ‘60s textile designer Barbara Brown. She used these as a jumping off point for her own prints that were created through laser cutting denim, vinyl and corduroy. Prints and patterns were mixed in ways that you’d never think would work and yet feel “right” together. Perhaps it comes from her other reference – the ‘60s themselves. But not the cliche “swinging sixties” but a cross cultural approach – referencing where her family comes from which includes India, Nigeria, the Carribean and England. Using exclusively second hand and deadstock cloth she’s created a collection that is as dynamic and unique as her heritage.
